In this episode of The Interview Series, host Karl McKeever is joined by Martin Wild, CEO and co-founder of Germany-based food-tech start-up, Organic Garden.

Striving for nutrition that is not only healthy for people and nature, but also tastes fantastic, its mission is simple: high quality products with a green soul.

The business was co-founded in 2019 by Martin Wild, one of the pioneers in digital commerce. At the age of 18, while still at school, he founded the famous online electronics retailer Home of Hardware (hoh.de) which became one of Germany’s largest online shops for consumer electronics. In 2007, Wild sold a majority stake in hoh.de to Premiere (now Sky Deutschland). Two years later, he decided to move to the USA. After returning to his homeland as Chief Digital Officer at MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group, he made the decision to leave and launch Organic Garden AG.

The food tech start-up believes in a future where high-quality food will be produced regionally and CO2-neutrally – a holistic approach that leads out of the climate policy crisis scenarios of long transport routes, fossil fuels, factory farming and monocultures.

As Martin prepares to take to the stage at Shoptalk Europe 2023 in Barcelona, we sit down together to discuss the brand’s journey, how the retail food industry can pursue a future that is good for people, the environment, and for business, and the story behind an unexpected appearance in Playboy magazine.

Presented by Shoptalk Europe 2023.
